The First Boyfriend

As usual with the girls, evenings are interesting. Sarah and Ashley were sitting on the bed talking to each other while I was putting towels away. I heard Sarah whisper to Ashley “Brayden asked me to be his girlfriend”. Ashley put her hand on Sarah’s shoulder and said “I am so happy for you”. My head jumped forward 10 years as their conversation continued. I tried my hardest not to ease drop but just hearing how they were talking to each other about a matter far to0 old for their 8 year old minds made my ears stay on full alert. I am not ready for this my heart was saying. But Sarah was so excited. And I loved how close they were.
